Pre-Conference Session

KAFP is offering a Pre-Conference Session: MAT Waiver Training on Wednesday, June 5 at the Wichita Marriott, from 1:00 to 5:30 p.m. Free for KAFP members. Non-KAFP members is $50. Online registration is closed. Please register on-site. Thank you.

Continuing Education Credit

AAFP credit: This Live activity, Kansas-AFP 2019 Annual Meeting , with a beginning date of 06/05/2019, has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 20.50 Prescribed credit(s) by the American Academy of Family Physicians. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

AMA/AAFP Equivalency: AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed credit, not as Category 1.

AAFP-certified CME Activities for AOA Credit: CME activities approved for AAFP credit are recognized by the AOA as equivalent to AOA Category 2 credit.

Non-physician health professionals may be able to receive continuing education credit for this activity. Please contact your licensing board for specific information.  To receive a certificate of attendance from KAFP, please contact Marina Spexarth or 316-721-9005.

The KAFP reports CME for all KAFP members who attend the 2019 Annual Meeting and submit their CME form to KAFP the last day of attendance. A certificate is available upon request. Please contact Marina Spexarth or 316-721-9005.

The election for officers, Delegate and Alternate Delegate will be conducted in person during the Member Meeting & Election held on Friday of the Annual Meeting at 1:00 p.m. All active, resident and life members present are eligible to vote.

STORM Students

STORM Student Information

The STORM program kicks off at the KAFP Annual Meeting with programming and CME specifically geared towards preparing medical students for their summer rural rotations.

Expectations

1. Be a KAFP/AAFP Student Member

Membership is free. KAFP provides complimentary Annual Meeting registration to medical students who are KAFP/AAFP members.  In addition, medical students can take advantage of many membership benefits of both KAFP and AAFP.

2. Register for the KAFP Annual Meeting

STORM students are required to register for the Annual Meeting.  This ensures that each student will have a name tag, will receive a registration packet, and is counted towards meals!

3. Attend Friday, June 7, 8:00 a.m. – Saturday, June 8, 12:15 p.m

STORM students are expected to attend the Annual Meeting beginning Friday, 8:00 a.m. through Saturday, 12:15 p.m.

  • Friday, before 8:00 a.m.: STORM Students expected to arrive and check-in.
  • Friday, 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.: Attend Lunch, Awards & Recognition program
  • Friday, 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.: Attend Medical Students Meet Your Leadership session
  • Friday, 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.: Attend President’s Reception & Dinner
  • Saturday, 8:15 – 11:30 a.m.: Attend Latex 2 Largynscopy session

STORM students are welcome to attend CME sessions as much of the day on Friday as they wish, and are welcome to attend the KAFP Member Meeting following lunch.

All STORM students are invited to attend the President’s Reception & Dinner on Friday evening.  This is a great opportunity to network with other attendees and learn about KAFP.  Make sure to RSVP for this event in your Annual Meeting registration.

Meeting Dress

For conference sessions business casual attire is acceptable (jeans are not appropriate).  For the President’s Reception & Dinner Friday evening we encourage you to dress up; business formal or semi formal are appropriate.

STORM Alumni & Preceptor Reunion

You’re Invited!

Join the KPPEPR and KUMC Wednesday, June 5, for a rural externship alumni and preceptor reunion.

This event will celebrate the success of the rural externship program (currently STORM) and recognize the efforts of students and preceptors over the last 28 years in active clinical training, health promotion, and disease prevention research in rural Kansas.  Heavy appatizers and drinks provided.

Saturday there is a complete Student Track, Latex 2 Laryngoscopy, dedicated for STORM students.  Attendance is required.

Dress code: For conference sessions, business casual attire is acceptable.  The President’s Reception & Dinner is semiformal.

CME Certificate

The KAFP reports CME for all KAFP members attending the 2018 Annual Meeting. Certificate is available for your reference or if required as a non-member.
