Kansas Exemplary Teaching Awards


These awards acknowledge KAFP members who deserve recognition of exemplary teaching skills, who have implemented outstanding educational programs and/or developed innovative teaching models. The award is presented in two different categories:

  • Full or part-time faculty
  • Volunteers

Selection criteria:

  • Recognized for exemplary teaching skills and outstanding progression of abilities over several years by medical students, residents, or peers; or
  • Developed and implemented innovative curriculum, teaching model(s), or program(s) in a variety of educational spheres; and
  • Must be a current member of the KAFP.

Nominations may come from Department Chairs, faculty, and current/former students taught by the nominee.  The KAFP Communications Committee reviews all applications and selects award winners each year.  Awards are presented during KAFP Annual Meeting at the Recognition & Awards Luncheon.

How to submit a nomination

All nominations must include the following information to be eligible for consideration:

  • A minimum of three and a maximum of six letters of recommendation. At least two of the letters of recommendation must be submitted from individuals who are current or former students/residents who have been taught by the nominee.
  • Current curriculum vitae
  • Photo (digital format preferred)

All materials including supporting documentation should be sent to Marina Spexarth and must be received by December 31.
