New Implicit Bias webinar series launches July 27

Four-part series offers up to four credits of CME

Our goal as family physicians is to provide the best frontline care possible for our patients — regardless of age, race, gender or background.

But research has shown that there are significant disparities in both access to care and outcomes for patients from marginalized groups. To promote awareness of some of the unconscious factors that may contribute to this issue and to provide physicians with resources to moderate the negative effects of implicit bias on patient care, the KAFP is hosting a webinar series later this summer.

Starting July 27 and running each Wednesday through August 17, the four-part “Lunch and Learn” series will cover the following:

  • Caring for your LGBTQ+ population. (July 27, presented by Tori Gleason, DC)
  • A history of systemic bias in medicine. (Aug. 3, presented by Jason Glenn, PhD)
  • The importance of communication in treating people with disabilities. (Aug. 10, presented by Sheila Styron, ACTCP)
  • Deconstructing Bias: Allyship (Aug. 17, presented by Maria Alonso Luaces, PhD)

Participants will be eligible for up to four credits of CME. The cost to register is $29 for each individual session, or $100 for the entire series.
