Advocacy Committee (formerly the Governmental Affairs Committee)

The role of the Advocacy Committee is to:

  • Identify KAFP’s Legislative Priorities, in consultation with lobbyist and staff.
  • Plan Advocacy Day program, serve as moderators, attend event.
  • Plan Advocacy Training program for members.
  • All committee members are expected to volunteer at least one day as FDOD during the legislative session.
  • Testimony (sub-group of committee)
    • Prepare written and oral testimony for KAFP to give.
    • Identify sub-group of committee that serve as testimony presenters.
  • Policy Writing (sub-group of committee)
    • Research and draft policies that support KAFP Legislative Priorities when there is a need.
    • Partner with Kansas Legislators to identify supporters to work with and introduce the policy.
    • Champion KAFP drafted policy through the legislative process.
