Student & Resident Poster Presentation
Students and residents in family medicine have an opportunity to present research, case studies, and literature reviews through poster presentations at the Fam Med Forward conference. Funds are used to help pay for travel and lodging for the presenters.
Herb Doubek MD Medical Student Success Fund
This fund, established in 2017, serves to provide funding for medical students to attend the Fam Med Forward. The Doubek family’s goal is to increase the number of medical students who attend the Fam Med Forward and ultimately select family medicine for their career.
The Summer Training Option in Rural Medicine (STORM)
In partnership with KU School of Medicine, the Foundation provides first year medical students the opportunity to learn about family medicine from rural family physicians while participating in a research project. Each year 25-35 students are accepted into the program. The Foundation provides financial assistance to the program itself, and also funds the students’ participation during Fam Med Forward. This program is formerly known as the Rural Primary Care Practice and Research Program.
The KAFP Foundation is now accepting applications for the Student Leader in Family Medicine Award. This award is designed to honor third-year medical students from any Kansas medical school, with plans of going into family medicine. Award recipients will be identified and presented with a $250 award.
