Residents & Students
The Kansas Academy of Family Physicians has 1,730 members which includes 122 resident members and 437 student members. The KAFP is a resource and advocate for Kansas family medicine residents and students. KAFP provides these benefits to resident and student members:
- Free membership for students JOIN HERE
- Kansas residency programs pay membership dues for their residents
- Complimentary registration to the Annual Meeting and Advocacy Day
- Student Track at the Annual Meeting featuring hands-on workshops
- Advocacy Afternoon, a free advocacy training exclusively for residents and students
- Opportunity to present research during Poster Presentations at the Annual Meeting
- Faces in Family Medicine mentorship program for students
- Scholarships and Grants
- Financial assistance for each KU campus to send students to the AAFP National Conference of Family Medicine residents and medical students.
- Scholarships for two residents’ international medical mission trips.
- Awards for three medical students who best promote the values of family medicine.
- Board involvement
- Residents: Each residency program has a Resident Representative and a Resident Observer on the KAFP Board of Directors to ensure the resident voice is heard.
- Students: Each KU campus has a student representative on the KAFP Board of Directors.
- Students and residents may volunteer to participate on a KAFP committee.
- One resident position on the KAFP-Foundation Board of Trustees.
