Welcome to Fam Med Forward 2022, the family reunion of family medicine! We are excited to gather in-person (for the first time in two years) June 2-4 for our premiere CME conference of the year. Our Professional Development Committee has been hard at work planning high quality CME specifically for you, Kansas family physicians. I look forward to seeing you in-person this June in Kansas City.

*New Physician members are those in their first seven years post-residency.

KAFP FOUNDATION SOCIAL & AUCTION

6-7:30 p.m.

Join us for KAFP Foundation’s annual fundraising event, with a roaring 20’s theme, held in the Barney Allis Historic Lobby (on property of the Kansas City Marriott Downtown).  Enjoy networking with your peers, appetizers, cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as bidding on items in the live auction.  Come in your best 1920’s fashion, or come as you are and enjoy the festivities!

KAFP BUSINESS MEETING

10:45 – 11:45 a.m.

KAFP members are encouraged to attend the annual business meeting of the organization.  At this  meeting the membership will conduct Academy business as outlined in the bylaws, review resolutions sent forth to the chapter, hear election results, and other appropriate business.

KAFP AWARDS LUNCH

Noon-1 p.m.

As is tradition, KAFP recognizes and honors the recipients of our awards each year at our annual gathering.  Over lunch we will recognize Exemplary Teaching Award winners, the Rising Star award winner, as well as other leaders within our chapter.

PUBLIC HEALTH BOOT CAMP

1-5 p.m.

Friday afternoon learners will have two CME tracks to choose from, one of which being a Public Health Boot Camp sponsored by the KAFP Foundation (Track B).  Learners who choose Track B will earn 4.25 credits of CME on topics covering a family physicians role in local government, community service, public health policy, and sideline medicine.

No additional fee to attend.

KAFP MEMBER RECEPTION

5-6:30 p.m.

  • 5-5:30 p.m.: Poster Presentations by med students and residents
  • 5:30 p.m.: Recognition of KAFP’s Family Physician of the Year recipient

Join your peers for this Member Reception following Friday’s CME.  For the first half-hour medical students and residents will be presenting research posters, this is CME eligible.  Then promptly at 5:30 p.m. we will recognize the recipient of the Kansas Family Physician of the Year award, KAFP’s highest honor.

Light hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served.

No additional fee to attend.

LATEX 2 LARYNGOSCOPY

for KUMC STORM Students

KAFP Foundation sponsors this hands-on workshop program for the 25-30 KUMC students participating in the STORM rural rotation over the summer.  This program is ran by volunteers and financially supported by the KAFP Foundation and a chapter grant from the AAFP Foundation.

POST-CONFERENCE FOR RESIDENTS & NEW PHYSICIANS

1-4:30 p.m.

KAFP strives to prepare those newest to the profession for successful careers. That’s why we have developed this post-conference track with content geared towards that audience: residents and new physicians (seven years or less from residency).  While the content is developed with those members in mind, all members are welcome to attend this CME eligible activity.

Topics will include:

  • Practice management
  • Physician wellness
  • New Physician panel
  • Interviewing and employment

No additional fee to attend. This post-conference is included with the cost of registration, but you must indicate attendance in your registration. Box lunch is provided for learners who register.

Conference Hotel

Fam Med Forward will be held at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown, 200 W. 12th Street.

Attendees can book rooms at the discounted conference rate of $189 per night for single or double occupancy*.

The rate will apply to the duration of each attendee’s stay and will be offered two days prior and two days after the conference based on availability.

* An additional charge of $25 per person over 18 years of age per room will be added for triple occupancy or quadruple occupancy, up to four guests per room. Rates are subject to the applicable current tax rate (currently 18.1% + $1.50 KC Dev Fee) at time of arrival.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received on or before May 23, 2022 will be refunded less a $150 administrative processing fee (for registration fee’s less than $150, no refunds available). Substitution of registrants is allowed. Email info@kafponline.org to request a cancellation or substitution.
