Resident Presentation Application

Resident Presentations

Resident presentations provide an opportunity for Kansas family medicine residents to gain speaking experience and participate in scholarly activity. The goals of the resident presentations are:

  • To provide residents the opportunity to give a presentation that will help to fulfill their scholarly activity requirements;
  • To provide quality CME for FMF learners;
  • To build residents’ awareness of, and interest in, KAFP and its CME opportunities.

The KAFP has dedicated a total of 13, 15-minute presentation time slots for residents to present during Fam Med Forward. All slots will be presented live and in-person in Wichita, KS. Residents should plan for a few minutes at the end of their presentation to allow for a brief Q&A to qualify their session for CME credit.

Allocation and Selection

  • KU FMR: 3 presentations
  • Smoky Hill FMR: 1 presentation
  • Via Christi FMR: 6 presentations
  • Wesley FMR: 3 presentations

Program Directors select the resident(s) to present from their program by whatever means they see fit. The KAFP’s Professional Development Committee (PDC) encourages you and your faculty to select the best and brightest residents to present.

Suggested Topics

The PDC asks that your residents consider presenting on topics from the most recent Patient-Oriented Education that Matters (POEMs) topics list. Residents are encouraged to choose topics that can tie back into the overall theme of the 2023 FMF conference, “Primary Care: Back to the Basics”. Unrelated topics of existing residency interest can be requested through the resident presentation application.

If you have questions about presentation topics, contact us at info@kafponline.org.

Faculty To Assist

We ask Program Directors, or a faculty designee, assists each resident in preparation and practice of their presentation.
