KAFP
Did you know Kansas lags behind other states in the rates of pneumococcal immunizations in seniors? Our rate in 2016 was 59.2 percent, while the national average is 66.9 percent. There are 19 counties in our state where the rate is less than 40 percent! KAFP was selected as one of three AAFP chapters to receive a grant to participate in efforts to build pneumococcal immunization rates in the Medicare population. Our winning grant proposal will offer the opportunity for seven practices to participate. Those seven practices will receive special assistance with the QI project from our collaborative partner KFMC and a $4,000 stipend at the conclusion of the program in January 2020. Keep your eyes peeled here for the announcement next week on how to apply to participate in the Kansas Family Medicine Pneumococcal Immunization Office Champion Program! Questions?
