Student Leader in Family Medicine Award
About the award
The KAFP Foundation is now accepting applications for the Student Leader in Family Medicine Award. This award is designed to honor third-year medical students from any Kansas medical school, with plans of going into family medicine. Award recipients will be identified and presented with a $250 award.
Award Criteria
Third-year medical students attending medical school in Kansas are eligible.
- Applicant has plans of pursuing family medicine residency.
- Applicant must be a KAFP member in good standing.
Application Requirements
- Completed application form
- Applicant’s headshot
- Essay #1: Describe your leadership experience in medical school, within Kansas Academy of Family Physicians, or within your community. (250 word limit)
- Essay #2: What are your goals for after you complete your medical training? (250 word limit)
- Essay #3: What is it about family medicine that excites you? (250 word limit)
- A letter of recommendation from a faculty member of the family medicine department of your campus OR a practicing family physician you have experience with.
Timeline
- Oct. 15: Nominations open
- Jan. 15: Nominations due
- February 2025: KAFP Foundation Board of Trustees to select and notify recipients
- TBD: Recognition during the Awards Luncheon at Fam Med Forward
Expectations & Scholarship Award
The recipients are expected to attend the KAFP’s annual conference, Fam Med Forward where they will be recognized during our awards ceremony where they receive their award.
