Abdul Moiz Akhtar, MD, PGY-2
University of Kansas Family Medicine Residency Program, Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas – Pittsburg

Dr. Abdul Moiz Akhtar, PGY-2, is from Milton, Ontario, Canada. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto before attending St. George’s University, where he began medical school in 2020. After graduating, he joined the KUMC rural track, completing his first year of residency in Kansas City. He is currently a PGY-2 in Pittsburg and works primarily at the CHCSEK clinic and Mercy Hospital.

David Brown, MD, PGY-3
University of Kansas Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program – Kansas City

Dr. David M. Brown is a third year resident and Chief Resident in Family Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City. He obtained his Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Kansas and his undergraduate degree in Microbiology at Kansas State University. His work focuses on improving care for underserved populations, particularly patients with limited English proficiency. He is passionate about teaching and has been recognized by the medical students with the Outstanding Resident in Family Medicine Award and as a finalist for the Excellence in Residency Award. He serves on the Board of Trustees for the JayDoc Free Clinic, while remaining active in community service and mentorship.

Seth Chauhan, MD, PGY-3
Ascension Via Christi Family Medicine Residency Program – Wichita

Dr. Seth Chauhan is a a Family Medicine Resident at Via Christi who will be entering Addiction Medicine Fellowship this year. He is originally from New Orleans where he went to school at LSU. He has always had an interest in working with the unhoused population and sharing their stories and is excited to continue working with this population.

Jason Gilchrist, MD, PGY-1
Ascension Via Christi Family Medicine Residency Program – Wichita

Dr. Jason Gilchrist, PG1, is from the Wichita area and chose to attend school at Wichita State University followed by the University of Kansas School of Medicine – Wichita campus. He is currently a first year resident at Ascension Via Christi and plans to pursue a fellowship in Sports Medicine.

Faith Hampton, MD, PGY-2
Ascension Via Christi Family Medicine Residency Program – Wichita

Dr. Faith Hampton is a second year resident at Via Christi Family Medicine Residency in Wichita, Kansas. She is passionate about rural medicine, women’s health and obstetrics, and public health. She plans to practice as a full spectrum family medicine physician in a rural community after graduation, particularly focusing on the holistic treatment of women’s health conditions throughout the lifespan. Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children (ages 4 and 1).

Lauren Olay, MD, PGY-2
University of Kansas Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program – Kansas City

Dr. Lauren Olay is a Family Medicine resident at the University of Kansas Family Medicine Residency Program. A native of Oklahoma, she earned her M.D. with Special Distinction from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, where she graduated at the top of her class and was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. She has demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership, mentorship, and service, including co-founding a nonprofit organization that promotes fitness and healthy lifestyles for individuals with disabilities and serving in a leadership role at a student-run clinic providing care to uninsured patients in Oklahoma City. During residency, she has continued to advance her interests in mentorship and medical education through participation in a Residents as Teachers scholar program and has been selected as one of the Chief Residents for the 2026–2027 academic year. She is passionate about patient-centered care and patient education, and has a particular interest in sports medicine. She plans to apply for a sports medicine fellowship this summer and ultimately intends to develop an outpatient practice that integrates primary care, sports medicine, and office-based procedures.

Sarah Thomas, DO, PGY-2
Smoky Hill Family Medicine Residency Program – Salina

Dr. Sarah Thomas is an almost third-year family medicine resident at Smoky Hill Family Residency Program located in Salina, KS. She was born and raised in Salina, attended K-State in Manhattan studying Life Sciences and Gerontology, and earned her doctorate of osteopathic medicine from Kansas City University. Some of her professional interests includes ways to improve patient education and accessibility, and she volunteers monthly as a health and wellness educator at a local shelter for unhoused people.

Staci Thomas, DO, PGY-2
Wesley Family Medicine Residency Program – Wichita

Dr. Staci Thomas is a second-year family medicine resident at Wesley Family Medicine with a strong interest in sports medicine and plans to pursue fellowship training in the field. She earned her medical degree from Kansas City University in Kansas City. Dr. Thomas grew up playing a variety of sports, which continues to shape her passion for athlete care and performance. Outside of medicine, she is an avid fan of the Chiefs and Jayhawks and enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephew.

Ethan Woodcock, MD, PGY-3
Wesley Family Medicine Residency Program – Wichita

Dr. Ethan Woodcock, is a Kansas native. He graduated from Kansas State University in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in life sciences before attending the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City. He earned his medical degree in 2023 and matched into the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita Family Medicine Residency Program at Wesley, where he currently serves as a third-year resident. He will begin working at Mowery Clinic in Salina later this summer.
