Poster Presentations in 2022
Thank you to the sixteen medical students and residents who summited applications to present a poster at Fam Med Forward 2022. We are excited to welcome you all to the “family reunion of family medicine” June 2-4 in Kansas City.
To accommodate all of the applications submitted, we have expanded presentation time to include virtual opportunities. View the full schedule for poster presentations at Fam Med Forward.

In-Person Presentation Details
- Posters will be on display all day Friday, Jun. 3.
- Posters will be presented Friday evening, 5:00 – 5:30 p.m. during the Member Reception.
Virtual Presentation Details
These poster presentation will be showcased for the virtual learners as well as made available OnDemand for the in-person learners to watch later.
- Presenters will prepare a 10-minute presentation of their poster on PowerPoint slides.
- KAFP will pre-record the presentation via Zoom in advance of the conference.

Virtual presenters are still invited to attend Fam Med Forward in person, registration is free for poster presenters. Learn more about the schedule of programming and networking events.
HIDDEN CONTENT
Overview
Present research, case study or literature review findings in the form of a poster presentation at a statewide meeting. The purpose of the presentation is to (1) promote scholarly activity among medical students and family medicine residents, (2) provide a venue for recognition of original work, and (3) provide quality education at the KAFP Annual Meeting.
Eligibility
Medical students and family medicine residents in Kansas who are members of KAFP.
Student membership is free, complete a membership application online.
Requirements
- Poster presentations may be either a research project, case study or literature review.
- Posters should address a topic relevant to family medicine.
- Submissions must be of original work.
- Projects previously presented at medical schools “Research Days” are acceptable as well as previous posters presented at AAFP’s National Conference. Current submissions to other conferences are considered legitimate and are, in fact, encouraged.
- The person submitting the poster must be a member of KAFP.

Review and Selection of Abstracts
Abstracts will be reviewed by trustees of the KAFP Foundation. Authors submitting abstracts that are accepted for the Poster Presentation will be notified and will be expected to present their poster on during the family reunion of family medicine and member reception on Friday, June 3 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Details of timing will be included in the acceptance confirmation.
Benefits
Students and residents giving poster presentations will be provided complimentary registration to Fam Med Forward, through the generous support of the KAFP Foundation.
For presenters traveling more than 60 miles KAFP will provide one-night stay in the conference hotel if requested.
If Selected
- Posters will be on display throughout the day June 3 (required)
- The author(s) is responsible for printing the poster, must fit onto a 48″ x 36″ display
- The author(s) of the poster is responsible for getting their poster to the venue to be displayed
- KAFP will provide display board, easel, and clips to attach the poster to the board
- The author(s) is invited to present their poster at the Member Reception June 3, 5:00 – 5:30 p.m. (not required)
- The author(s) is responsible for collecting their poster after the Member Reception
Deadlines and Timeline of Activity
April 1, 2022: Deadline to submit Application and Abstract (form below).
April 15, 2022: (1) Deadline for presenters to complete Travel & Lodging Request form. (2) Deadline for presenters to register to attend Fam Med Forward.
June 3, 2022: Give Poster Presentations at Fam Med Forward. Arrive 30 minutes prior to set up.
June 2-4, 2022: Attend Fam Med Forward, at the Marriott Kansas City Downtown in Kansas City, Mo. Students and residents giving poster presentations are encouraged to attend all or part of Fam Med Forward.
