Meet Tina Khan…

Tina Khan spent 13 years in Dual Language Bilingual Classrooms as a teacher advocate for families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.  The principle stating leadership starts with you is especially near to her work both in and out the classroom. Tina has a Level I Kansas Leadership Center certification in Teaching Leadership and a Level II Case-In-Point certification for group facilitation. She has more than 10 years experience in team training and group facilitation. She has a degree from Kansas State University in K-12 Education and Bilingual/Multicultural licensure as well as an MA in American History and MS in Educational Administration & School Leadership from Emporia State University.

Tina currently works to increase healthy food access for communities across Kansas. Through her work at the Center for Engagement and Community Development at Kansas State University, she was instrumental in establishing the state’s 2nd CDFI (community development financing institute) and only the tenth CDFI in the country that focuses on increasing healthier food access for citizens. She is the current director for the Kansas Alliance for Wellness where she works to develop Food Policy Councils focusing on healthier food access in local communities, through local policy. She is passionate about connecting individuals with resources that benefit the progress of Kansas communities.

She fills her spare time with cycling, outdoor activities, animals and enjoying the beautiful countryside of Lyon County Kansas where she lives with her husband Brandon, their seven dogs, two miniature donkeys and potbelly pig Roscoe.


There is no charge for the RISE Webinar Series. However, registration is required to receive the log-in information for the webinar.
